Bannerman gun?

A question for you out there who are more knowledgeable than I am (probably 99% of you!) A few yrs ago I purchased a Rem. RB; the rifle is as new! Bright finish, mirror bore, no cartouches, but the typical Rem. markings are on the tang. The usual "U" on the bbl bands is not there, rather a "B" is stamped on them. I read something a looong time ago about Bannerman assembling guns from surplus parts, but can't find the reference. Is this what I have? Emery
