smith&wesson model 1500 30/06
I'm really happy with this rifle that I bought 20 years ago.
What is the quality and worth of this fine firearm? It was made in Japan, by what company?

perfect condition rifle that I bought 18 years ago and was wondering about quality, worth and history 0 -
Adequate for what it was, made in Japan under contract most likely, discontinued long ago, damn near impossible to get parts for, and I'd ask about $400.00 as a start and be prepared to have the prospective buyer trying to chisel that down to $300-$350. Had one in the department's Armory allegedly for sniper use. Functional, but not a high-dollar or hi-tech rifle.

Built by Howa. It is the same rifle that Howa offers today under their own name as the model 1500. The parts will interchange. I've got one that was the most accurate out of the box rifle I've ever owned. Howa is a good gun builder. They build the Weatherby Vangard. Without optics, you're looking at $250-$325 depending on condition. With optics, add about 1/2 of the new cost of the glass that's on the gun. If you have no reason to sell it, don't. You have a very good gun.

Same gun as the Smith,Mossberg,Weatherby and Howa.Good guns.DH is correct.BB is not 0 -
Howa has a very recent recall on that rifle, any built after 1970. Something about the bolt sleeve and safety. I would check it out.
