Marlin 795 Problem...Help!

I got this email from my customer who just got a new Marlin 795 from me. Any ideas, Experts?David: I received my Marlin 795, took it to the range today to try it out. Unfortunately it jams the spent shell back on top of the next round being feed, causing a rather unsafe mess. I had to actually remove the base of the magazine, remove the spring and follower to clear it the last time it jammed. It seems to jam when it gets low, like when there are about three rounds left. I had five or six jams in less than 50 rounds fired, finally decided it is unsafe to shoot at this point. It actually bends a round with the bullet entering the chamber but the cartridge is still in the magazine. You then need to pry the round out of the magazine/breech. I am shooting good grade Federal ammo, 22 long rifle of course. What options are available to me at this point?

    Nunn,I'm not familiar with the 795; sounds like it's a 22 semi-auto, magazine fed? I'd start by loading a single round without a magazine in the gun, then fire it with someone watching to see if the spent shell casing is "hurled" clear of the action. Try this a number of times--if the spent shells are all thrown cleanly, the problem is probably with the magazine.If not, some type of extractor/ejector problem?I'd also suggest trying CCI ammo; I've never seen "good quality" Federal 22lr!

    I recently bought a 795 as well. Although I haven't been able to shoot it as much as I'd like, I did notice occasinally it would not cycle the next round after one was fired. I'd cycle it manually and then it wouldn't happen again for a while. I was using Winchester Xpert 22 HP.-Marcus
