The Minier guns were fairly robust and an improvement over the Lewis models. Miniers were made several different grades, from Field through Seven. Would have to know at least that to even get close.

it's a field grade gunw/checkered grip and forearm, and some detailing on the receiver with the words "Ithica Hammerless"i ran the serial through Ithica, but they were not very informative about it.my books don't have the gun by name, only listed by the name "Hammerless" and by serial number range.

They were introduced in 1906 and production was discontinued in 1908. The shotgun was named after "David Minier" and was available in 10, 12, 16, and 20 gauges. Since yours was produced in 1906, it was made during the first year of production.Even in field grade -- ejectors were available, and if you have an ejector gun it boosts the value considerably. Too bad it isn't 20 gauge and you wished to part with it -- I would be happy to give it a new home.Depending on where you are --- values varies depending on location, and in the condition you describe --- you are probably looking at somewhere between $300--$425.[This message has been edited by AdamsQuailHunter (edited 01-06-2002).]
