I the 10th Edition of Modern Guns, the gun you have was made from 1940 to 1948. The value given is VG= $120 to EX= $150. I've got one and it's a great shooter. After 1948 they were re-introduced by Savage.

Heloo ,If you have one that has the takedown lever behind the hammer , it is one of the old ones , if you will check the gunlist and shotgun news and *************** you will get a realistic idea just how high these are...some of the guys who like these want the tenite (plastic) stock version while others prefer the wood ! I have acouple of these and they are also good shooters !!!let us know if you decide not to keep it !!!Thanks !!! azgunnut2@yahoo.comd.a. stearns / gunsmith - gallery salesathens , tn...423-746-4587.............

Thanks for the replies guys. The breakdown lever is on top and the fire selector is a button on the right side of the receiver. Can anyone tell me where the serial number is? I don't want to buy this if the number have been removed. Thanks,Jeff

Jeff,Anything manufactured before 1968 is notrequired to have a serial number. I havetwo of these, and neither has a serial. The selling prices I've seen recentlyhave been from $150 to $262.50 per gun, with the earlier stevens (tenite) modelsselling closer to the high end of the aboverange. One of the failings of this model was that the rear sight loosened up becausethe .22 barrel was so thin and requireda very small dovetail.good luckjo-dan
