AK coming apart
While shooting this past Sunday, on my buddy's AK, the pin which holds the triger, started sliding out. Is this common with the low quality from Romainia? He has shot less the 500 rounds throug it. Were thinking of replacing the pin with one that will take either a cottor pin on the end or a C-clip. I wondering if I should replace the one on mine right away? Anyone ever have the problem or suggestion on how to resolve this. Thanks for your feedback.

My pre-ban AR-15 did the same thing, and I fixed it exactly the way you describe with a C-clip. Wouldn't hurt to do it before the problem arises since it is the most inexpensive method. I know I don't have to say it, but use the new pin as the punch to push out the present pin, as it will prevent any internal parts from coming loose. 0 -
My AK has a little spring that fits along the inside of the reciever and the pin you are talking about has a shallow groove in it the spring rests in to hold it in place. 0 -
Though I haven't had this problem with my Romanian AK, I remember hearing someone else posting with this same problem a few months back, so it is more likely a manufacturing problem common to alot of them, not just yours. 0 -
Why not put the trigger pin in a drill chuck and cut the groove a little deeper with a swiss file or hacksaw blade? If you deepen the groove to 1/2 the dia of the spring wire, it shouldn't ride out. These are supposed to be very reliable gunsnot needing retaining rings to keep pins in place. 0 -
Rumor has it that the american parts added to the AK for the purpose of making imporatation legal are a bit "softer" than their original parts. 0
