Is there any cheaper rounds for the .357 sig? Even the cheap winchester FMJ's around here are still $17.99/50.

It could mean,Police Dept,Public Defence or most likely Personal Defence ? I might add it's a much better choice than the 9mm.It eguals the .357 mag with a 125 gr bullet.

I think it's a good compromise between power and recoil. In my opinion, the 10mm is the best cartridge for defense and hunting in regards to an auto cartridge.

It's really a necked down .40, more expensive to buy ammo, little bit trickier to reload, and slightly more unpleasant to shoot. (The latter is what it really mimics in a .357 mag) Also puts more stress on gun components. Not distinctly better than a 40 S&W, so I'd say it's more of a coin toss as to it's selection--and I'd hope the coin lands for the .40.
If you want .357 Magnum performance, get one. The reason shooters today often don't is because they can't shoot 'em comfortably and/or don't like wheelguns. I love 'em. Discomfort and cleaning all those dirty cylinders is hardly a deterrent.
