Smith & Wesson Model:457
I am wondering if anyone here has experience with this weapon.Accuracy and reliability are keys.

The S&W 457 is a compact alloy framed model. It is one of their "plain jane" versions with less features than their standard series pistols, less machining, single sided safety, etc. Their function should be similar to their other guns in that series 4506, 4516, etc. The accuracy will be dependant on the ammo used as well as the capabilities of the shooter. Since it is a compact model meant for concealment, its inherent accuracy will most likely be less than the larger, full sized, heavier (all stainless) models ie. the 4506. The lighter weight may make it harder to control than the full sized gun, also detracting from the accuracy, not to mention the shorter 3 3/4" barrel will normally not provide as much accuracy as the full sized model with the 5" barrel.

Basically it is a "fighting gun" not a target pistol. Short barrel, short sight radius. With a little practice you should be able to put them all on a standard (9") paper plate at 25 yards, practice some more and you may make it down to a 6" desert plate. Don't expect more, but, be happy if it turns out better. 0
