j c higgens 22 snub

Have a chance to buy a J C Higgens 9shot 22 snub its in nice shape asking price is $140 it seems like it would make a nice plinker-whathaveyou in the trunk of the car gun??? any info thanks Billy

  Believe these revolvers were made by High Standard for Sears Roebuck to be sold under the J C Higgens name.
  
  These same revolvers were manufactured by High Standard and sold under the Sentinel name from the mid 50's to 1984 when High Standard went belly up.
  
  The early version "Sentinel" ( 1955 - 1973 ) had a alloy frame and supposedly wasn't as durable as the latter version "Sentinel Mark I" made with a steel frame (1974 -1984 ).
  
  My 2 cents if it's in good shape ( tight etc. ) and your just going to use it as a "car gun", you can't go wrong for $140.

  thanks snow I kind of liked the feel light weight and strong also nine shots CCI stingers is not a bad extra gun I will see him in a few days and get it I have always had a fancy for the snub 22 had a few and they can do a lot of jobs with ease the lowly 22 is really not that lowly its really a handy back up tackle box trunk of a car behind a pickup truck seat or under your pillow High Standard had a good reputation $140 why not

  The High Standard snubnose revolvers were pretty accurate little guns.
  $140. is cheap for a good specimen. I wish these were still being made today, with 4 inch and 6 inch barrels as well.
