TURKISH MAUSER ID TROUBLES
1. mauser bolt action rifle
2. chambered in 8mm mauser
3. 24" BBL
4. 2000 meter battle sights
5. cleaning rod under BBL
6. bayonet lug
7. all the standard mauser bolt gun military features
8. TOP OF BBL: "TQ" over "AS*FA" over "ANKARA" over a cresent moon proof over "K.KALE" over "1944"
9. SER#4638 (on almost all parts, all numbers match, bolt, safty, floorplate, etc...)
10. top of BBL forward of the single BBL band is exposed, ie no wood
11. protected "rabbit ear" front sight
12. turned down cavalry style bolt handle.
the gun is in NRA VERY GOOD condition, in its original finish. i am almost positive this is not a "cut down" or rechambered gun. i believe it was made to these specs in 1944. my books are confusing, and contain little info, and fewer pics. even RIFLES OF THE WORLD and SMALL ARMS OF THE WORLD are not very helpful.
the action is very smooth, the bore is mint, the muzzle crown is mint. i think this is a liscense made copy, made in TURKEY in 1944.
any info??? what model designation??? production numbers??? history??? opinions??? value??? collectors intrest??? i am stumped. best regards, mike.

you have a turkish mauser. it is a large ring with small ring barrel threads. they are a dime a dozen and not very collectible, sorry 0 -
Hi Mike: It sounds like a Turkish Mauser to me also! They were selling at J&G in Prescott, Arizona for about $50.00 a few years back and they came with a Bayonet also,Believe they have some left in the back of the Building...You might give Tom a shout and see if He's still booting them out the door....Best....
