go to sportsmansguide.com; they have a good selection of optics all together. More specifically they ahve two scopes with see through mounts made specifically for the mini. I have a mini myself, and use the BEC scope which I bought from this website. It is made to fit the rifle with no smithing. They have two scopes available, with red lighted rectical, and one without. They both have bullet drop compensators for .223. The prices are roughly $50, and $80. They are pretty decent scopes. You could also buy ruger rings made for the mini as well, and buy a typical rifle scope available just about anywhere. I hope this helps. You can also become a member to sportsmans guide, and save $$$. I am a member and it is worth it, if you buy any sporting goods at all. Check it out. Good luck, Mark

I put a b-square mount with a simmons 3-9 x 40 scope on my mini, I have not been disapointed.

I have a Millett Buck Gold 3-9 x 44 on top of my Mini-14. It works great and its had at least 3000 rounds fired out from under it..

That Sportsmen guide stuff is mainly refurbs and discontinued items. How do you think they can sell them so cheap. I would stay away from their stuff. Buy from your local dealer where if you have a problem it will be taken care of. IMHO

Thanks for the feedback .I was told that minis would blow the cross hairs out of a normal scope is there any truth to this?

I have heard the same thing I was told it was due to the abuse recieved from the action slaming backwards. I haven't had any trouble with my scope yet so maybe it was just a bunch of hooey or maybe the simmons is just a tough scope hehe.

ATN makes a scope just for the .223. It is a nice looking scope and I have heard only good things about ATN.

I have a b-square scope mount and a Tasco 3x12x40 scope that has been on my mini-14 for 10+ years. Only problem I have had is the b-square scope mount worked loose because I was putting the rifle on the rack mounted gun racks of my ATV. The jarring of the ATV worked the scope mount loose.

Also, unless you buy over $300 a year from "sportsmanguide" paying $30 a year to be a "member" is a ripoff. You get a 10% discount when you are a member but paying $30 a year means in order to get that $30 back you must spend more than $300 a year. Thier S&H charges are absurd also.
