Ruger 10/22 Vs Rem 597
I was looking at the new Remington 22 target rifes that were built to compete with Ruger's 10/22. Does anyone have any experience with the new Remington rifle? I had a 10/22T a few years ago but it was adopted by my son and I plan on replacing it with either another 10/22 or the new Remington.

The Rem is a good gun IMHO it don't live up to the Ruger if you looking for any after market stuff the ruger has it hands down owned several Rugers and only fired a Rem

Looked at a 597 today.Not a bad lookin' little
gun,but I think the 10/22 is gonna be awfully
hard to beat what with all the stuff avaliable
for them.
Happy New Year!!

my dad just got me a 10/22 for Christmas[:D] 0 -
For a semi-auto .22lr I'd only consider a 10-22 at this time. With thier reliability, accessories, and accuracy (especially in their hammer-forged target model) they are hard to beat.
The only Remington .22 that I'd consider would be their 552 model, and that is just because it can shoot shorts, longs, and long rifles in any order.
There's nothin' wrong the the 597, it just ain't a 10/22 in any form...0 -
My buddy has the Remington, I have the 10/22. As we did today, we shoot for $1.00 a shot. Closest to the "X" wins. Excuse me while I go count my one's.[:D][:D][:D]

First of all I have three 10-22s. You can't beat them with a stick!
As far as my opinion on Rem.; I have only owened one (sold it three days later!), and have shot several. I simply don't like the way they shoot, recoil, or feel...referring to semi autos. That is my opinion for what it is worth. Mark0 -
I was once a die hard Ruger fan, and still like many of their guns and still own a few. That said, I've never owned a Ruger 10/22 though I've shot several. The ones I shot were reliable and reasonably accurate. I've never shot the 597, but find it interesting and hope to try one eventually. The most accurate .22 auto I ever owned was by far an older Marlin with the short barrel and tube magazine. It would regularly shoot .5" groups at 50yds with Winchester Super X's. 0 -
I'd go with the 597 HB...Mine is very accurate...and I guess I just like Remingtons better than Rugers.[:)]
