western 30-30 ammo questions

I would like information about this Western super x ammo that I have. I have one box in good condition with 18 rounds of power-point ammo. I know it is at least 25 years old, and from what I understand it may be older. I saw another box nearly identical on gunbroker with one difference. The newer box on gunbroker had the works "keep out of reach of children" stamped on the box, mine does not have this. I also have another partial box, 8 rounds, of silver tip ammo 150 gr. bullets. This box in fair condition as one end of the box flaps are partially missing. The ammo looks good over all except that the brass is darkened from age. I also have six rounds of Rem. UMC 30-30 ammo that were stuck in one of the boxes. They appear and are most likely the same age. I could potentially take pics if someone could help me out. I am not finding too many resources online that have been helpful. Thanks, Mark

    While the ammo you have is old (not real old though), it is not of any significant value (especially the partial box of mixed ammo). The box of Western Super-X may have a minimal amount of collecter interest, but because it is not a complete "unopened" box, it too is of minimal value. The box could be worth more than the ammo it contains if it is in very good condition, but we are still talking about a small amount of $$.

    As for online resources for information... there aren't any outside of this type of forum.

    The "Child warning" has been around for longer than 25 years, although I never collected boxes & am not sure of the date. The box of 18 could bring some small premium to market. Box collectors look - usually - for full boxes of the correct ammo in superb condition. They will accept lesser condition depending on their pocketbooks and rarity. Post-war .30 WCF ammo is not a category killer! However, you may find someone who wants this one. The damaged box of mixed, tarnished ammo is purely a "shoot and forget" item.
