steyr pistols

has anyone bought 1 of the newer steyr pistols in 9mm or 40 sw? i understand this gun is supposed too give glock a run for there money.i have been watching them on gb and they sell for around $350,alot less than the glock.looking for opinions thanks in advance don

    I was curious if steyr was making anymore pistols, or if they have gone the way of the dodo. I would like to get another one, but I don't want to spend money on something I cannot get parts for or get fixed. Thanks, as always, for your replies.

    The Steyr M9/M40 was discussed extensively - and not always favorably - at the Firing Line.

    I have the M9. The gun is accurate and well made. The grip suits me well. However, I am not satisfied with its reliability. I have routine failures to extract using Sellier & Bellot. If I switch to other ammunition - PMC, American Eagle, UMC, Winchester USA - it is much better, almost acceptable, though not flawless. (2 failures to extract in about 1,000 rounds; by way of comparison, my HK P7M8 has had one stoppage in more than 5,000 rounds; my HK USP has had none in the last 6,000 rounds.} Other owners had not had the problems I have.

    I may send it to USA Steyr for service before its warranty expires.
