Why is it that our children can't read a Bible in school, but they
    can in prison?

Get Blue Wonder gun cleaner. One of the posters on this site owns the company that makes it.It is a gel that comes in a tube.I had a heavyly rusted Mossberg barrel, smeared some gel on it and wiped it off later a couple hours. The instructions say to warm the metal with a hair dryer and use ooooo steel wool if it is really deep.It will not harm the bluing either.Their touch up blueing kit works good too.Search the "General Discussion" forum on this site for "Blue Wonder" and you will see what I mean.I buy mine from [www.cheaperthandirt.com]but if you look at the manufacture's site[www.novumsoloutions.com] they have list of dealers that may be near you.

Give it a try you will never use any other gun cleaner.CW

If you can find some magnesium wool, use it with the Blue Wonder cleaner. It will remove the rust and leave the blue.
