single shot turkey guns
I would like a single-shot 12g shotgun to hunt turkeys. I have looked at H&R and Rossi. Both have very simple sights (just a gold bead). Their web sites seem to suggest that more complex sights cannot be added. I read about someone who glued better sights on his single-shot H&R with liquid nails. That does not seem like a good option. T/C makes shotgun, but it is very expensive. Does anyone have an opinion about these guns and/or open sights or peep sights (even a scope) that could be added to them?

The H&R 12 Ga. Turkey model comes with a Glo Dot red fibre optic sight. It's chambered in 3.5" 12 gauge but will shoot 2 3/4 and 3" also. 24" full choke barrel. Also comes in a camo finish.

I personally would go with the H&R or {New England Arms} over the Rossi. They make a 10 gauge too if you want the x-tra umph!!!

I killed a 23lb gobbler a few years back with a NEF/H&R single shot 12ga camo with 24" fixed full choke. It shot point of aim with just the bead sight, but kicked like a mule. Still a descent gun for the money. 0 -
I also have the H&R camo turkey gun.camo with 3 1/2"chamber 24" bbl.I am still not sure who it hurts the most,me or the turkey.Definately does the job though. 0 -
Baikal makes a nice single shot avaiable in either fixed or removable chokes. Only one bead but has a vent rib and I don't see why others couldn't be added. I use mine for trap. Nice gun. No frills but shoots quite well.
