Colt Police Positive .38 S&W

Last Ptd. date on top of bbl is July 4, 1905. Ser. # 27936. Understand these were made between 1907-'27. Would like to know the year mine was made. Also where I could find a set of original replacement grips.

  Robert, According to Colt's Dates of Manufacture by R. L. Wilson, Police Positive .38 #27936 was made in 1909.
  
  I can't advise you of a source for replacement grips but those pictured on a reproduction of a catalog page dated 1909 show the grips to be hard rubber with the word COLT molded into the top part, the main body checkered and with a fleur-de-lis type figure separating the checkering from the smooth border at the bottom of the grip. Colt made several patterns of grips and you just as well know which to look for.
