Mauser (German)?

First of all Merry Christmas!
A friend of mine that's 76 yrs. old, in the Army during Korean conflict, took this pistol off of a Chinese ofc.
It says, WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER on the right of receiver, the left
OBERNDORF A NECKAR
side just says MAUSER. Just forward of the chamber up top it says the same as above. Appears to have a 3.9 inch barrel, magazine is fixed just under chamber. appears to have a luger style barrel. ser. is 679xxx.
Could someone give me some info. please?

  From your cursory description, this MIGHT? be the Mauser pistol your friend has.
  
  
  
  
  
  
  They were made for over 40 years from the late 19th century till just prior to World War II. The were made in many variations over those years. The most common chamberings were 7.63 x 25mm, & 9mm Luger.
  
  Depending on the variation and condition, your friends pistol could have considerable value.

  With the short barrel, sounds like a Bolo model. So named because of the large numbers purchased by the Bolshevics.
