Several years ago I had the opportunity to fire a TEC-9 owned by a friend. We really no function problems with this one. However, between the poor balance, crude sights, & horrendous trigger pull, we couldn't hit a 40" target board at 50', except by accident. That's not my idea of fun.

There may be a good reason to buy one of these. But, it's not target shooting. Not self-defense. Not hunting. Maybe someday I'll figure out what it is.

THE ONLY THING I CAN THINK OF TO USE ONE OF THESE FOR IS ICE FISHING...ONE MAGAZINE OF 9MM=1 HOLE IN THE ICE (JUST DON'T HIT YOUR FOOT WHILE 'DRILLING' THE HOLE).

I bought one of the TEC-9s a while back. Prebad with the shroud and threaded barrel.

I shot it a bit. It never jammed on me, probably because I only feed it the ammo specified in the manual (hot FMJ). Anyway, as for a "good reason to own one", since when do we need a good reason, or a reason at all.

My own personal reasons were these: they will eventually be gone and be collector pieces, and the image of this weapon is what first got me into gun ownership.

Sure, it's not a Kimber. But it looks good and makes the Brady Bunch wet their pants, and that's good enough for me! [}:)]

Happiness is giving a paintball double-tap to your opponent's center of mass before he even realizes you're there.
Ahhhh... the glory of a successful ambush!
