Thanks for all fo your help fellows. There is no need to get upset at me about this subject. I WILL NOT DO ANYTHING , I repeat ANYTHING that will be against the law in ANY country for any reason. Just want to cover all bases to see if this is possable to be done and the info I have received tells me it ant worth trying. My partner in Canada will just have to do something else to get a 338 mag. No need to reply to this, thanks again for your help.

NOT TO TURN THIS TO "GENERAL FORUM, BUT SOME COMMENTS ON TRYING TO DODGE THE LAW...
I just moved to California, and started collecting and shooting after moving here.
The load of rules and laws I've encountered...no wonder it's called Kalifornia or PROC by the forum members[:D][:D]
I tried to get around a few laws, but the State was had time to get it pretty tight here.
That, with Fed. F. Law, has made it impossible to , say, buy a pistol this week in PA, my home state, and bring it into CA, even if it is a gift, after I have now establisheed residency.
Even small shops get the visit from the BAFTE to check records.
The latest was the fella in VA or WV who wanted to FFL out of his home. The ATF was fine with it, but the County Zoning Dept enacted a new law to prohibit or deter him from trying...He eventually got his business, but it was a stress-banger...
