value of Star 9mm and Gold cup

tring to help a guy put a value on his 2 guns , what follows is the info he e-mail to me, any help is appreciated ! thanks
The first gun on the right side of the slide: STAR-SA CONTINJADORA DE * EIBAR" B.ECHEVERRIA
ESPANA Then after that it says CAL 9M/M. Then on 2 different spots is has a bomb shape with the
letter P in the bomb. Then it has the letter N and a coat of arms shield with the letter x in the
center.


The 2nd gun has a cup on it with the words GOLD CUP it's a 45 caliber with very very nice walnut
grips. The serial number starts with 70 and then the letter N and a few more numbers which are
hard to tell. It has a few scratches but in overall pretty good shape

    The prices start under $200. I've seen them for $225 - $400 locally, but this is California. Some guns sell here for a lot more than in other parts of the country.

    And the "Gold Cup"? If it is a Colt, with GOOD pictures, someone here can give you an accurate value. But supply and demand always rule. If your friend wants to sell (read: HAS TO SELL), and the buyer does not have the same enthusiasm in buying, less than market value will be offered. Same if it is a dealer. Locally, the dealer takes 20% after the sale is complete. Another takes 15%

    And sorry if I misled you, but the post sat here for a while, so I took a stab at it.
    I've got a friend in MD looking for a decent-shooting 45ACP, beat-up matters not; I am always looking for just such a gun, Colt preferably. So there IS a market for 45's in just about any cosmetic condition that shoot.(I told him I'd find him a good one for under $300.)

    HHhhhhnmmmm! Never seen a Gold Cup with the Serial Numbers so "faint as to be hard to read." Such a gun, in my opinion, would probably have been refinished and quite poorly if the refinisher buffed the numbers so much as to make them appear "hard to read." It would be very difficult to assign a "guesstimate" which would be sensible to me. I would say that I would be very careful as this gun might have little value other than as a shooter, which can be had in the $250 to $300 range......

    Gold Cups might be worth less if poorly refinished, but if the gun itself is in good shape and shoots well as it should, I would think it is going to fetch over $500. A lot of people would line up for one.
