I have had for years the manual sifter that Midway sells works great.Just put it inside a plastic bucket pour in your brass and sift.

I've used a Dillon model for a couple of years as well. Works great!!! You control the speed and subsequent media dispersal by turning the crank. Dillon's has a special tub with their separator that holds the tumbler; very nice because it has notches for holding the tumbler in position so that you can open it and remove the brass (or put it in) without it rotating on you. Pretty easy to take the tumbler off of the tub and put the media back into the vibratory cleaner. I'd highly recommend it!

My separator is a stainless mesh pan with a flange to sit at the top of a five gallon pail - the bottom extends about 4" into the pail. Cost me nothing and I just stir the brass around for a few seconds. Unless I kick the bucket (literally), no mess at all.

I use 2 ice cream buckets, the gallon(?) size. Turn one over on a block of wood, take an empty rifle shell, stamp holes in the bottom, or drill about 3/8 inch holes in bottom. Forstner bits work nice. Set this bucket in the other, dump in your media and cartridges, shake, rattle, and roll. Been doing it for 20+ years, haven't worn out the buckets yet. If it breaks, have some more ice cream......

Whatever method you use, be sure to check primer holes and make sure there are no media particles stuck in them.

I use a RCBS model and it works great. It has a hinged lid that completely encloses the spining basket. All the media falls to the bottom, you lift out the basket and dump the brass, then pour the media out of the bottom half of the main case back into the tumbler. No mess unless you are clumsy and drop or spill it.[:)]
