toy report cannon experts help!
email me for pics. click my name. i have an old military type toy cannon that goes bang. you know the ones im talking about. it has toy black wheels and looks like 20ga. i dont know if its baking soda or gp. can someone email me and tell me? and too, what part of the fuse or firing mechanism is missing? thanks in advance....i await your emails. i will forward the pics.

thats right. thanks. now i remember. carbide can be had from rifle match shooters supply co.'s. its still used to blacken sights. anyone care to see this thing and tell me whats missing? 0 -
CALCIUM CARBIDE...TO BE EXACT! I see the Ad's listed in a lot of publications to this day...Got some in Storage in Arizona...but that don't help you now...Mechanics Illustrated comes to mind..Sorry I can't be more specific....but don't get all those Magazines anymore..
Acetelene is made from calcium carbide...Its Stabile in its Dry Form...but with Water it desolves into a Flamable Gas...If I can find a Magazine Ad selling the cannons, I'll copy and send to You....

Yep- Acetylene gas!!! Can't miss the smell. He Dog, I've got several of those old helmet lamps with the flint striker- Too cool!

I think what you have is a Big Bang Cannon, if you do a search using those words you should get info on the parts you need.

Yes, it sounds like you have a Big Bang carbide cannon. Dixie Gun Works also sells the carbide and the flints used for setting the carbide off (like lighter flints). The stuff is kinda pricey, so if you can find some commercial outlet for the carbide, it may be less expensive. www.dixiegunworks.com Emery

Yes...! Winchester made a 10ga. Blank Firing Breech Loadering Salute Cannon...in my 1916 Winchester Catalog they offer one for sale for the heafty Sum of $10.00..and 1,000 10 Guage, 8 drams of powder, for $28.00......
