Putting them on high caps is fine. If you put them on post ban 10 round magazines, you will be manufacturing a high capacity magazine in violation of the law.

Glock magazine tubes are designed to flex in order to remove their base plates. Due to the extra leverage afforded by their greater length these extended baseplates have a tendency to pop off when sideways pressure is applied.

I've seen several incidents like this when they're carried in a LEO duty holster, most often caused by just getting in or out of a car. They'll hang on the back of the seat and peel off. I've had LEO's report getting out on a traffic stop and returning to their car to discover their baseplate, mag spring, ammo and follower had been left piled in their front seat. That's scarey.

Risking the loss of your entire mag contents isn't worth those extra 2 rds.
