Colt Double Eagle question
Any of you Colt guys remember the Double Eagle that had the stainless frame mated to a blue slide? I don't remember if it had night sights or anything else special, but it was a limited edition. You know how you get something stuck in your brain and you can't remember??? Thanks!

ADDENDUM: In August 1991, Heckler & Koch, Inc. and Colt's Manufacturing Company were awarded contracts with the US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) for the development of an Offensive Handgun Weapon System (OHWS). When the gun was not accepted by the military, the company probably tried to keep it around until the bean-counters cried HALT !!!
ADDENDUM PART II : The 10mm was here on GB; someone slid a grip over the existing grip and fastened some kind of cheezy laser onto the trigger guard.
When I bought a D.E. Combat Commander in 40 S&W, I drove these guys nuts with repeated questions, driving out the minutie on the subject. Also, I ran repeated and varied web searches. I never came up with what you describe, but there is plenty of outdated and/or inaccutate info. A Combat Commander in .45 just came up for auction on GB. I don't see those very often. Many of the finest specimins seem to surface in New England. If I ever find a 10mm in Commander size, I'd pounce on it.
I've seen exampes in 9mm, 40S&W, 45ACP, and 10mm. There was also a 38 Super.
I didn't answer your question, but a little light on the subject can't hurt, since no one else is trying. E-Gad! Maybe someone made their own duo-tone D.E.
" I don't remember if it had night sights or anything else special, but it was a limited edition." Did they have night sites in the ninties?

I have a Double Eagle Commander .45 with factory trijicon night sights and colt logo bumpers on the magazines. (But the box label doesn't mention this.) It's all stainless. I was told that these were made up to show to law enforcement agencies to drum up le business.
The only other Double Eagles I know of with blue slides were the lightweight officers. But the pistol I'm thinknnig of was full size or commander.
I know what you mean....they weren't very popular and there's just not much info out there. I've never seen a 10mm!
I think night sights hit big around 1993.
Thanks for the effort!0
