I replaced a pitted 9mm barrel, & regretted it. The only barrel source I could find was Numrich, & the only barrels they had were commercial ones. By the time I paid a gunsmith to r&r the barrel & install a new front sight, it was expensive. And, it didn't look that good.

I recommend that you first try to find a barrel/upper receiver on the auction sites. You might get lucky.

If only your sideplate is mismatched, statistically in a box of 100 sideplates, you will have a match. Since only the last two numbers are mismatched, try on the "Looking For" forum here and at the other forums. I have matched Luger parts by maker and era, not to mention the number. Not really that hard. If Bill Drollenger out in CA is still in business, he could match you in a minute.

If you don't want to go that route, get a copy of Shotgun News for a barrel. I personally would not change or separate the barrel from the matching receiver. I got a matched barrel and receiver assembly just to use on the top

My experience with Luger barrels is that they are very tightly screwed into the receiver and it takes great care to change barrels without twisting the receiver. In any case your Luger in caliber 7.65 is worth more then would be the same pistol in the more common 9MM.

Watch out for the surplus ammo in a Lugar, it's been known to crack the breachblock (pencil line of soot from the face, parallel to the extracter cut = crack) esp the stuff that is loaded to SMG specs.
    Don't ask me how I know this[B)]

Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

Thanks, I think trying to find a 9mm bbl and upper receiver is the way to go.
