anyone have some info on this gun?
My father has had this gun for years & recently gave it to me. It's just a display piece, but neither one of us is very sure what it is. I think it's World War 2 Chinese. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Appears to have been made at Nagoya Arsenal. The Nambu, while underpowered, is considered to be the most accurate handgun of WWII. Ammunition is available for it.

As said previously: EXTREMELY accurate, lovely trigger action, and will actually function without the extractor. Many have broken firing pins; EASY fix! Most people believe Bill Ruger based his 22 Auto on the Luger; wrong, based on Nambu. Ammo may be available, but usually expensive and from "exotic" sources.

we do stock 8MM NAMBU pistol ammo. it is made on correctly headstamped brass, loaded by our staff to duplicate the original JAPANESE mil spec load, but we reduce it by 5% to reduce damage on the poorly made, often brittle frames.
i have seen a lot of realy nice NAMBU pistols with broken frames. SOG and NUMRICH ARMS sell quite a few replacement frames.

i suggest that you attend the next gun show in your area and purchase a referance book / guide on this gun. markings make or break the value on nambus. we have a customer who has a IMPERIAL NAVY proofed model that the serial number places as being issued to the CARRIER AKAGI. best regards, mike.

Just FYI Mr.Mike......Akagi was was one of the Jap carriers that took part in attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7th, 1941. She was sunk at Midway (along with Soryu, Hiryu, and Kaga) on June 4, 1942, so your Nambu has got to be a pretty rare piece of history. 0 -
the paperwork my customer has on the gun shows it belonging to a "wing commander" who lost his legs in an accident. he was than posted to a "flight school" to train young flight candidates. he also (the customer) owns his sword, and his rank tabs.
i feel honored to have handled it, and assist him with its cleaning and maintanance. his provanance is A-1, and well researched.
