New Springfield Garands

Are the new Springfields any good? Is it a totally new rifle, or did they use some surplus parts? I know you can buy the true blue from the CMP, I was just curious about the quality of the new ones from Springfield.

  It depends upon your definition of "any good".
  
  They have a new receiver, either from Lithgow in Australia, or another company whose name I can't remember. Most parts are refinished USGI. Stock made by Boyd; nice, but not to milspec. Usual Springfield Inc lifetime warranty. Price is close to $1K.
  
  It will never have any collector value. You can get an excellent condition USGI M1 made by the real Springfield Armory for less money.
