winchester 94 classic 3030

well since you all were so helpful on my dads old model 94 I drug this one out of the gun safe.A few years ago I traded for this model 94 just because it was different than most, so what if anything can you tell me about it.It is a model 94 classic serial #46152xx,it has a longer forearm with a cap not the clamp and the heaviest full octagon barrel you have ever seen,I mean this thing is heavy its probably well over a inch thick from side to side.It has Model 94 Winchester Classic stamped into the barrel in fancy cursive writing.It has what looks like a case hardened reciever and the nicest wood I have ever seen on a model 94,it looks crosscut, kind of like burl maple.When I first traded for this firearm I fired it a few times and you can hit a quarter with it just as far as you can see the quarter.Thanks in advance for any information,I only have around 50 bucks in this gun and just wanted to know if it is worth keeping, one of my boys wants it for a deer rifle and I wanted to check before I gave it away

    From the way you describe it, you like it because its cool and it shoots. Sounds like keeping it in the family is a great idea regardless of age or value.

    The stock is Walnut crotch wood. Roughly 47,000 of the Classics were made between 1967-1970 (as duckhunter pointed out). They are indeed nice looking rifles, and I personally don't understand why they do not sell for more $$$ than the apparently go for today[?]

    thanks for the response all,like I said I was just curious,the model 94 has so much history and I knew I could get some answers here.This is the first one I have ever came across with that heavy barrel and man does it shoot.As drl50 stated I do think I will keep it in the family,,,it is cool looking[:D]
