Firestorms(by Bersa) Information?
Here I go again... Anyone familiar with the Firestorm division of Bersa and their pistols? I know the "Thunder 9" by Bersa was well received several years ago, but these new pistols are a unknown from my experience. I'm checking on several brands, and so far I've had negative posts on my query about Llamas & Stars. I've had most of the major name brand pistols, I was just interested in checking out some of the new pistols from the minor manufacturers.. Any input is welcome. Thanks

I guess I can understand the negative comments about Llama, as they often need a little TLC right out of the box to become good performers; but I don't know what anyone would have against Star, other than the fact that they are no longer made! As for Firestorm, the consensus seems to be that they're good, especially for the price. That's their opinion, not mine, because I don't own one.
I guess I might as well come clean, though; even if it will cause a lot of flack and shrapnel to come my way. I do not like BERSA. There--I said it--and I'm not sorry. The pocket pistols are overly complicated inside and cheaply made. They sell because of the price. If you want a good pocket pistol buy a Walther or FEG. If you want a .45 (and it has to be Argentine) buy a Ballister Molina. There...let the chips fall where they may.[^]0 -
we cannot keep the BERSA`s in stock. all the arms we recieve go right out the door, especialy the THUNDER 380 series. they get great reviews in the trade magazines, and we get a good customer response.
STAR arms are of good quality. the A, SUPER A, B, and SUPER B are easily ranked among the best combat handguns evermade. i personaly own a STAR MODEL A (1922 varient) in 9MM LARGO, and my father owns a STAR MODEL B SUPER in 9MM LUGER. we handle about one STAR a month at the shop, and currently have a MODELO SUPER in 9mm luger, a FIRESTAR in 9mm luger, and a MEGASTAR in .45 acp (high cap.)

There were a few posts back a couple months asking about the Bersa .380. The ownwers seemed to like them. I've looked at them and at the time bought a Star Firestar in .40s&w. I expected this to really be a problem controlling, but was very manageable and actually quite accurate, espec. for being a compact. My only gripe was it was quite heavy for a CCW gun of it's size. Overall, was quite pleased with it. 0 -
If I understood correctly a while back, Firestorm is Llama. Llama and Bersa merged or 1 bought the other. I am not sure which one bought which one. I have owned a Firestorm. I sold it but it was bought by a friend. He has put a couple of thousand rounds thru it and the only problem he had was an ammo related issue. The ammo he bought was out of spec. He has had only 2 things done the the pistol, a trigger job and a new recoil spring. Appears to be an exellent pistol for around $300. 0 -

A friend, gun store owner, carried one regularly, except his was duotone.

You might want to check out the Bersa Thunder .45. Sweet shooting gun. Co-worker picked up one of these a few weeks ago, and between us we have popped about 500 rounds through it with no problems..and it handled ball and hollow point ammo!!!! It is a reasonably priced pistol that shoots good.
I know you have also received a lot of negative feedback about Llama's but I've had one for almost seven years, pushed about 5,000 rounds through it with only one malfunction, and that was due to a bad magazine...so..go figure. I guess you get a good one or a not so good one.

The Bersa is one of the better "low end" pistols, a little on the cheap "look,feel" side, but generally ok. The Llama is an aggrivating piece of work, sometimes needing a little help right out of the box, especially the clip feeding right.Not necessiarly so with the older models.And as stated above, the only thing wrong with the Star is that it is no longer made. The Firestar is outstanding, as is the little SS 380.Another of the better imports is the Astra.IMHO. 0 -
PX15, i own both a BERSA Thunder .380 and a LLAMA MAX-I .45 compact. The only trouble i had with them was the LLAMA .45, it jammed a few times. Took to gunsmith and he polished the FEEDING RAMP a little, problem solved. Try this far some more info. www.bersa-llama.com
