I have a question about the Beretta 92's.

What models come with the accessories rail? Is this an option that can be installed on any?

I am about to purchase a Beretta 92G with "night sites" for 425.00 plus tax.

This gun is a police department trade in. Is that a fair market price if we assume that the gun is 90 to 95% condition?

The Vertec model is the one that comes with the accessories rail. It has a distinctive grip shape.

The price for a 90% 92G is a good one. PD trade-ins with night sights, if the sights are tritium, are often near the end of the useful life of the tritium.

Doesn't really seem like a fair price to me, unless, maybe, it comes with the 4-6 hi-cap mags that the PD probably traded in with the gun.

Most likely the PD traded them in after telling their County Executive that they needed $200-300 worth of repairs on each gun, like my county PD did. I don't know it was the truth, or not, but you take your chances on PD trade-ins.

You didn't say if the gun was "factory" rebuilt.

As for caliber, most PDs are trading in their 9mms for .40 S&W or .45 ACP. So, while 9mm may be OK, I wouldn't pay a lot for a (possibly) well used one.

The half life of tritium is 9 years, so they probably need replacement ($150-200), as this gun was introduced in 1990.

My post was based on the assumption that all was in good working order, of course. And G's command a slightly higher price than the more common FS's

That is not a good price on a used police trade in 92G. I don't know where you got that they were worth more than 92F's. There is a guy on www.***********.com that has these same used police trades for as low as $325 in (85-90%). The 92G are much less desirable in my experience because they do not have the slide mounted safety! They still have the lever and it still decocks, but there is no safety. Made that way so cops can't get confused and forget to turn it off. I have one of these and like it very much, but I swapped out the safety mechanism with another gun ( which I then sold ) and made mine into another true Centurion, my favorite pistol.
