    Poke it thru the hole. It's job is to knock out any carbon fouling.

    Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

    I honestly have never, ever needed to use mine. I break the rifle down after every shoot and have yet to see enough carbon in either the barrel port or the gas tube to cause any trouble, and I have put a few thousand rounds through the gun in question.

    Jonk, it depends on the ammo you use. I have seldom had to ream my gasports, but occasionally I get a odd batch of ammo that either is dirty or has soft jackets and the port gets a little congested.
    Back to the topic at hand, the tool goes into the port and the drift punch goes through the hole ain the end of the reamer to act as a handle. Push and twist the reamer until the port is clear.
