can anyone give me any info on a "pre-ban" para p14 ,good/bad?

i can get one 95%+ w/night sight fairly resonable

    Had a p14.45 for awhile. Nice shooter, nice feel, very good for just out of the box. Ended up selling it back to the guy who sold it to me. He decided that he just couldn't part with it any longer....

    I have two P-14s. One is the standard original model that I put a beavertail grip safety on. The other is a "Limited". I shoot the Limited in IPSC matches. 2000 rounds an not a single hi-cup. The standard one is a good shooter also, just not as refined as the Limited. If you want a "Wide Body" they are a good choice. Its tha mags you may have trouble finding at a reasonable price. John

    I have a Tricked out(Ambi safety, extended slide release, Bomar, Hogue grips, Ed Brown mag release, Trigger job) early P-16 which is the same gun except in .40 S&W. Not a hiccup in many thousands of rounds. It will feed and cycle anything reliably. The only problem I have had is when the extractor gets dirty it can become unreliable on extraction, but it takes 2000 rounds to get that dirty. You will have to change the mag catch after a couple thousand rounds. The ed brown part is only like $20.

    I've got one--very accurate, very reliable, not really a thing of beauty....Para isn't long on finish in my book. Just a few months ago Para released a big quantity of high cap. mags, and the price dropped all the way down from $90+ to $50. I don't see them advertised anymore, but I'll bet there are still some to be had. The same mags also fit the LDA high cap. model, and all are blue. Good choice in a pistol, if the size and fat grip suit your purposes and taste. I started with their P-13, went to the P-14, on the the P-14 LDA, and now am using a 7:45 LDA (single stack). This one IS a nice looking pistol! But I like them all well enough that I haven't sold any of them![:D]

    Your asking the choir about your preaching with me - have a couple of Paras in 45 and one in 9mm. Wouldn't trade them for the world! I shoot IPSC whenever possible; Para is the pistol of choice for our group. The only failures that I have seen are ones like richbug noted and when I forgot to put powder in some bullets... hardly the gun's fault. Buy it - shoot it lots!

    I have a para 14-45 limited stainless. The only problem I've had is buying enough ammo to feed to it. Its a very hungry beast. It eat'em up and spits'em out very accurately and reliably.
