Marlin model 60 question
I just finished reading about the model 60 questions on down the page. I also have a model 60 with a problem. The action is stuck to the open position. It does not have a release button. I'm sure it is the old style rifle. I looked at a new one at a gun shop, it has release button on the forward side of the trigger guard.
I have taken it apart, cleaned it and asked a few guys about it. Still stuck open. I have stopped short of complete dis-assembly, removing the pins and springs on the action block. Please advise if you have any ideas. Thanks.

to answer your question about the bolt
did you try pulling it outward?
the bolt moves foreward and backwards as usuall ,but it also moves in and out ,in being a catch ,out to fire0 -
Wow! Do I feel humbled. I went out to the shop, picked up the rifle, pulled outboard on the bolt lever & it snapped close!
Problem solved. Thanks.

It's the ones you are trying to teach, that do not ask questions, you must keep an eye on".

Don't feel bad.It happened to me about 20 years ago also.Mine almost wound up wrapped around a tree.Still have mine, just have not fired it for about 10 years. They do have to be kept clean,or they like to jam.Mine perfers plated bullets over plain lead ones.Mine shoots quite well.
