Auto-Ordnance older model , 1911 45 ACP
I finally got to shoot the AO 45 today. It may need cleaning, but it jammed with me a couple of times. What's the connection with Charles Daley? Thanks, KP

There is no connection to Chas. Daley. The older A.O. was made by The Gun Parts Corp. in West Hurly, N.Y., whereas the C.D. is made in the Philippines.
What (if you are seeking help) was the nature of your pistol's jams? Failure to feed? Can be cured by (1) polising the feed ramp, (2) throating the barrel, (3) installing a new recoil spring (any or all), or Failure to extract/eject? (1) Make sure the extractor is tensioned properly (bent inward toward the firing pin hole) so as to obtain a good purchase on the rim, (2) make sure you are using a good magazine, (3) that you are holding the pistol firmly when firing it (not "limp wristing" it), (4) that corrosion is not present in the chamber(any or all). Often jams are the fault of the ammo, and the cure there is obvious. No doubt the function will benefit from the good cleaning. The older A.O.s are kind of like Llamas (and other less expensive 1911 tyes) in that they sometimes came from the factory lacking that little bit of individual care and final inspection that makes most of the more expensive versions operate well right out of the box, but the beauty of the 1911 design is that with a little polishing and tweeking they can almost always be made to work well.0 -
Of all the 1911's I've owned I would have to say that almost all of the "jamming" problems I've ever had were almost always caused by either the ramp or the lips on the clip were just slightly out of wack or the mag spring was in poor condition.
