Replacement barrel for Krag
I have an old cut down Krag with a nice action, nice stock but a shot out bore. It keyholes at 25 yards.
I recall seeing an ad in the Shotgun News some time back for Krag replacement barrels. Anybody recall who was selling them?
Best regards,Rich

Looked at www.gunpartscorp.com (old Numrich). look under u.s.military, find the two models of Krag. These are new, four groove barrels made to mil. spec. They ain't cheap, tho, as they list @ $185 and up depending on length and model. You might also try flea-bay. No telling what might show up there (try under "rifle barrel"). There probably are other parts houses. Fellas, a little help? 0 -
It doesn't sound like you're looking to restore the rifle to original condition, so any of the major barrel makers will sell you an appropriate barrel. In any even, original barrel, replica barrel, or sporter barrel, you'll need to have it installed and headspaced by a gunsmith. Therefore, you should ask around and find one with a good reputation, then take the rifle to him, tell him what you want, and let him acquire the barrel. You might even get it a little cheaper. 0 -
To paraphrase what the Mountain Hunter (Gerbirgsjaeger) is saying, you might want to just consider a commercial barrel unless you are planning on restoring the gun.
