1897 Winchester ???
What holds the ejector pin in ? I shot the shotgun a few times and went to unload and luckley the pin fell out onto the tailgate. I put it back in the shotgun and I can't see what would hold it in.

My grandfather left me a 1897 Wichester and it functions and works properly. However, the receiver of the shotgun has a really nasty bend in it. I orgionally thought that this would cause the moving parts inside to have major issues but it does not seem to cause any problems. So here is my question. would it be worth to have a gun smith try to hammer/tap this crease in the receiver out OR try to find another receiver to replace the damaged one OR just leave it alone and do not plan on shooting it much or at all???? Any info and advise would be great. 0 -
the EJECTOR is a small hook shaped spring that is fastened to the left (as you are shooting the shotgun) outside of the receiver with a small screw. 0 -
I relpaced the spring thinking there was something rong with it but the pin just falls out if shot gun is opened on it's side even with new pin. 0 -
I GET THE FEELING WE ARE TALKING ABOUT TWO DIFFERENT PARTS, THE EJECTOR DOSEN'T HAVE A PIN. THE ONE OF THE EXTRACTORS DOES (L.H.) THE RIGHT EXTRACTOR IS HELD IN WITH THE EXTRACTOR PLUNGER AND EXTRACTOR SPRING. 0 -
I am going by the exploded view. Part #76, T shape, fits just to the rear of hole were the ejector spring sets. 0 -
I LOOKED AT MY 97'S LAST NITE, NEVER GAVE THIS PART A THOUGHT BEFORE. (WIN. PART #12097, EJECTOR PIN) THIS IS A PRESS FIT IN THE HOLE FOR IT. IF YOUR'S IS LOOSE I'D USE A LITTLE RED LOCK TIGHT. ALSO CHECK THE BOLT STOP SCREW AS YOUR BOLT MAY BE COMING BACK TO FAR. ON MY 97'S (2) THE BOLT WILL NOT GO BACK FAR ENOUGHT TO CLEAR THIS PART. 0 -
