S&W Mo. 51 -22mag

Can anyone tell me the years these mo. 51's were produced , and was the 3 inch barrel a rare model for mags or pretty common?

One books says 22 mag only, the other says 22lr or 22mag. Neither indicates years of manufacture. One says 3" barrel the other says 3.5." Take your choice, not much help, sorry. Where in NM?

newmex322, The model 51 was made from 1960 to 1974. Approx. 600 round butt made. It was available with an aux. cylinder chambered for .22 LR. Square butt model is worth 2X or 3X value of round butt model. There is no mention of a 3" barrel being available. It was available with either blue or nickle finish. This info is from Standard Catalog Of Smith & Wesson

Herschel,I think you got the butts mixed up.The round butt is the more valuable of the two.
