Anyone know what the proof marks "FG" and "SW" stand for on WWII era 1911 barrels? I have two Remington Rand slides with barrels marked with above.

Whats next? A ban on automatic transmissions?0 -
Definitely not proof marks, which are usually "P" on 1911 barrels. Could be inspector or heat lot marks.
It's more important to identify the barrel manufacturer. R-R used barrels made by Colt (usually COLT .45 AUTO), Springfield Armory (S), & High Standard (HS). Please indicate all other markings, especially those on the barrel link stud. And, are they blue or bright finish?
