Leupold value.........?
I've been offered a Leupold 24X fixed power, FCH, AO, gold ring scope, and extension tube, for $450 shipped. I've never been able to afford one, so I haven't looked into the pricing enough to know if this is a reasonable price or not. I'd appreciate some opinions.
Thanks, Jay

Check www.bearbasin.com for pretty much rock bottom new scope prices. You don't say whether it is a Var-X II or Var-X II, Rifleman or just which model. That makes a huge difference in quality and price.
Is this a spotting scope or rifle scope? I would have problems with a 24x fixed power scope. What is the extension tube, a sunshade?

He Dog, the Leupold 24X was made for the benchrest market, it would have the same quality of lenses that the Vari-XIII has, Vari-X is a name used only for Leupold's variable power scopes. 0 -
Thanks rordog, I should have twigged to that, but I admit I just don't look at the bench stuff at all!

Sightron makes a 24x target scope that can be had for around $300. I have 3 of their scopes and have no complaints.[:p] 0 -
I had a 24X Leupold one time. Had it mounted on a 22-250 rifle. The eye-relief was too sensitive for me, plus I didn't shoot any better with it than I did with a 12X. So I sold the thing. Won't buy another either.
