Sendero VS Model 700
Hey Y'all,
Whats the difference between the .300 Sendero and the .300 Model 700 Varmit/PSS? The look the same to me. Thanks!!!

The Sendero is simply a heavy-barrel version of the 700 and also uses a better stock with full-length bedding block that is kevlar-reinforced. The PSS is essentially the same as the Sendero except it has an additional swivel stud on the front of the stock for a bipod.
Aside from the above, they all of these are made to more exact standards than their standard 700's.0 -
And the Sendero is chambered in long action hunting calibers. The last time I looked at the catalog they were, 25-06, 270Win, 7mm Rem mag, 300 Win mag. The VS is chambered in short action varmint and
"sniper" cartridges.0 -
BTW, the word Sendero tranlated means footpath, but it is more used in reference to the large open fields in Mexico. Those fields is why this gun was designed as a heavy-barreled varmit type gun so that you can set up and fire at a distance since it is difficult to approach animals on an open plain.
As Rordog stated, the VS is short action calibers. The VS stands for Varmit Special, the VLS is Varmit Laminated Special, the VS SF (my favorite) is Varmit Special Stainless Fluted. Incidentally, the SF extention is also added to the Sendero name to denote the fluted heavy barrel.0
