Would like to find out the value of my Quackenbush 22 cal rifle made in 1886.

    Quackenbush made .22 caliber rimfire rifles for over 30 years, from the 1880's to the 1920's.

    During that time they made at least (4) different models in many variations.

    If you can't provide good quality photos, you will have to give us a very accurate and detailed description of the rifle, so we can help you.

    The H.M. Quackenbush manufactured both air rifles and .22 RF rifles. They were very cheap (and cheaply made) firearms.....however...they were kind of "throwaway" guns and there are few left around, so they are very collectable!

    As Rufe-Snow says, we'll need a complete description (a photo would be better, if possible) of the rifle, all of the writing on it, and a description of the condition.

    How do you know it was made in 1886? If that date is marked on the gun, it's probably a patent date, not the date of manufacture.

    I really wouldn't call them a "throw-away" gun. As a swinging breech single shot it was made rather substantially. It was nade as a youth gun though and as such suffered the uses and abuses of youth so not many good examples survived. The H.M. Quackenbush Company was widely known for the quality of their nickel plating. One other note is that most were chambered for the 22 Long NOT the current 22 Long Rifle.

    Here is the inscription on my 86 Quackenbush.
    H.M. Quackenbush, Herkimer, N.Y. , USA
    Pat in US, Feb. 23, 86, June 23, 86
    England Feb 23, 86, Belgium, Mar 15, 86.

    It is nickel plated in great shape all parts are intact and working, except the cartridge extractor. The stock is smooth and looks good.
