NEW BROWNING FINISH

I took my new Browning 525 FIELD out pheasant hunting in the rain yesterday morning. When i got home i noticed some water marks on the wood finish.This gun has grade 3-4 wood on it with what looks like an oil finish. I'm well versed in gunstock finishing but was not sure what to use to clean this one up with. I really didn't want to "experiment" on this one. Any "experts" out there that can help me out? BOBSKI? I want to get on it before i have any permanent damage to the wood. Many thanks for any help.

    Trap55 - I'm watching your thread with curiosity - I've never had that happen although I have gotten rifles and shotguns (including Brownings) soaked in rain, swamps and bayous. I am not sure of your wood's finish, but my wood stocks get an application of Johnson's paste wax everytime the metal is cleaned and oiled. That may have helped me avoid your specific water-spotting problem, but as to how to remedy the situation now, I am hoping we'll both hear something.
    Your reference to the Browning 525 Field Gun is lost on me. Is that an over/under Leige-type shotgun? The rubbed oil finish is apparently the key to the situation here. Good luck with it. Best, Jim

    Yes it's a citori O/U. The 525 comes in 3 models,Field,Golden clays, and sporting.I had just got it and got the invite to the pheasant hunt. Johnsons paste wax goes on all my stocks too, but didn't have time to do this one before i went. It didn't get soaked, just a few raindrops.All my other brownings have the hard clear finish so i've never dealt with this before.I'm going to try some linseed oil;wipe on/wipe off.Guess i can't hurt it with that.I'll post the results(good ones i hope!)Thanks for the response, DAVE
