I must be wrong; if it were a Colt No 4, it would have a serial # on the frame. And, all the No 4's I've seen have a "DERR" prefix or suffix on the serial #.

I'd sure like to see a close-up of the "Colt" markings.

When this gun was a topic in general discussion, a few days back I looked at the guys other auctions. He seems to have some interesting C&R stuff. I emailed him and asked him to send me pictures of the colt identfication markings, and more pictures in general. I also asked him for a letter from colt in reference to the authenticity of the gun. He just emailed me back yesterday, no pictures, and he said it has not been lettered "yet". The gun has serial number 23165, the letter "G" stamped into the frame, and says Colt under the rear sight. He also said "the gun is at least 90 years old." This gun is an oddity, but for him to be able to make a claim of it being a one of a kind Colt, and nothing to back it up, make for a suspicious sale. He does have very good feedback, but that's not good enough for me when it comes to something like this. Email me if you want a copy of the email he sent me, and the one I sent him.
