    Most likely World War II era. ( 1940 - 1945 ).

    The magazine was produced by Sterling Armaments Co. of Dagenham, UK. The give away is the presence of the word OFF and the directional arrow which is stamped on all Sterling production magazines for STENS, Lancaster, and Sterling (L2A3) submachineguns. The D of course indicates Dagenham. I've fired all of these weapons many times and have never been able to get any solid information from any of my British Military contacts as to what exact purpose these markings serve since the plate, being tapered, will only come off in one direction anyway!
