.38 special Clays load
Looking for information for 38 spec load with "CLAYS" only.
162 gr. SWC lead - light target load - Clay's powder only. Will be shot thru 2.5" snub barrel.
(book's show 2.3-2.9 grains for 168 gr SWC)I was thinking of starting with 2.6+-.1 and see how they group.
Any suggestions (other then different bullet or powder)would be appreciated. As always, I know I can count on you.

out of a snubnose revolver, i would not personal use CLAY`s powder. its slow burn rate, coupled with the short BBL length will leave you with a fouled BBL, and a lot of unburned powder. muzzle blast / flame will be higher than average with your bullet wieght / powder combo.
i would go with SOLO 1000 if it was my choice. just my 2 cents worth. best regards, mike.

Well there's really not many shot handloads for the .38spl. And I don't think there are really any specifically for shooting skeet with. I'd say just buy some plain 'ol CCI shotshell, but trade in the 2.5" snub on something with a longer barrel. Like maybe one of those Taurus silouhette revolvers with the really long barrel.
You know I never really heard of people shooting sporting clays with a handgun. but who knows, maybe it will end up being a popular sport. I can just see it now. Smooth bore handguns with choked barrels. Well anyway, good luck on your odd endeavor.0 -
