Wanted to know the history and characteristics of the Vanguard VGL. What were the production dates, quality, value, etc? Thanks

  Your rifle was manufactured by the Howa Co. in Japan, circa 1980's
  
  Other then the cosmetics, it's similar to the rifles Howa produced for Smith & Wesson and Mossberg during the same decade.
  
  If your intending to sell it, the only way your going to get more money then the comparable S & W or Mossberg rifles, is if the person buying it doesn't know the difference between the various Weatherby models and thinks he's getting a Mark V.
