Is this worth $100?

I saw it in there this morning and although definitely a fixer-upper,
would it be worth the trouble?

BTW,It's not I have to have to have it,so if anyone else want's to bid,It's not gonna hurt my feelings.

    If it is legal, it probably worth it. I would want to know for sure that it was made that way and not a cut down rifle or shotgun.

    Handi guns were made in .410 and 29 gauge. Not legal, probably not legal even sleeved. I would not touch it.

    The Fed's take a real dim view of any handgun that's been created by cutting down a rifle/shotgun, no matter what caliber/condition it's presently in.

    My 2 cents, I would definitely pass on the deal.

    i will add by two cents also. h&r manufactured their handy-gun in .410 and 28 gauge smooth bore, (28 gauge rare) and in 22 rimfire and 32-20 centerfire (both of these calibers rare). no catalog ever listed a 22 hornet caliber.

    all models were offered with detachable stock. the two models with rifled bores are legal as long as they don't have the stock with them.

    since the rifled barrel models are rare this gun most likely made from one of the 410 models.

    as a side note, the handy gun remained legal in canada longer than in the u.s.a. and were still being sold there after their sale was banned in the u.s.a. i believe up into the 1940's.

    Just out of curiosity, why were these guns banned? I'm not familiar with them, but they dont look like anything illeagal...

    Simply put in laymen's terms.Any shotgun(smoothbore)
    with a barrel length of less than 18" and/or overall length
    of less than 26" is illegal.The "handy gun" was introduced
    before the ban went into effect,but those that were already out
    there are banned anyway,unless they were registered during a certain
    time frame.(Help me out folks,since I'm not good w/all the dates
    and stuff.)The Handy Gun in a .22 rimfire,or 32-20 would have a
    rifled barrel and would be considered a pistol,therfore being legal.
    The fact that this Handy Gun has been re-lined leaves it in the "grey"
    area.Was it originally a smoothbore,which now may be legal or maybe not?Or was it originally a rifled barrel which I would think would be legal?Either way,it didn't sell,so if it gets re-listed,I'll have more
    time to think about it and study up on the legal part.

    I'm sure someone can expain it a lot better than I,so feel free.
    It won't hurt my feelings.

    The 45/410 Contender barrels have rudimentary rifleing, which makes them legal.

    When I was a kid, my Grampa had one of those in .410 and this one pictured are identical except for the barrel sleeve.
