Need Model Seven Remington Hand Load in 6mm

I'm looking for a hand load for a Model Seven Remington in six mm. I'm planning on shooting a 100 grain bullet (Hornady). I realize I'm losing velocity with the short barrel, and probably accuracy. Is there a powder out there that is specifically developed for this shorter barrel application? I would be open to going to a slightly lower bullet weight if that would help. My goal is to anchor deer/antelope in the under @250 yard range. I'd appreciate even a specific Hornady bullet if you have a favorite. I have the old standby IMR 4064, that has served me well over the years; but if there is a better option I'd appreciate the information. You don't have to give me a specific load, just the componets that have worked well for you.

Check with Ohioghog here, he reloads for 6mm. I have a 6mm, I just don't reload for it yet. Nice to see someone else here has the decency to have a gun in the world's finest caliber[:D]

I have loaded for the Rem. 6mm since 1967. I have found that R-19 is the powder for the 85 gr. Barnes XLC for whitetail, & for varmints with Hornady 75 gr. V-MAX. I use these in my Ruger #1 (custom), which has a 21 inch barrel. Will shoot a lot better than I can. Lots of groups with both bullets-3 shot groups, are less than 3/4 inch at 100yds.0 -

The short barreled rifles are a touch harder to find powders for that will burn completely while the bullet is just leaving the muzzle. Most will burn to the 90% mark (that's 10% waste) or you have to get your load ratio way too low for my liking. My preference is to load to at least 95% of a full case or better if possible, while still burning all of the powder in the barrel.
With this in mind, I tested a bunch of powders and found one that makes this work in my 6mm Rem. and a 20" barrel. Accurate Arms 4350 (or XMR) lists the range of 41.0 gr. to 45.6 gr. and a Nosler Partition with a high velocity of 3041 fps. Mine shoots just fine anywhere in this range. But with your Hornady Spitzer you will need to back off of the high end to about 45.0 grains to keep out of high pressure.
I have several short barrel projects going right now but nothing constructive to report, yet. Maybe in a couple of months...
I just remembered to tell you that you should try some of the Barnes 95 gr. TSX (Triple Shock) bullets. They are pretty accurate. I'm shooting some right now in my 25-284 barrel.
