Llama Max-I & Minimax 9mm
Anyone have any experience with Llamas in general, and Max-I, or Minimax in particular? I'm considering buying one as a plinker(in 9mm), but am curious as to their accuracy, dependability, all around quality. Are they still being made and any experience with customer service? I've read someplace that you need to polish the feed ramp for consistant feeding, but other than that I'm totally unfamiliar with this brand. Also,what should I expect to pay for a new one? Thanks!

I can tell you one thing....their customer service sucks! We sent a couple Llamas back for warranty service and it took over 6 months to get them back....and guess what, they had the same problems as when we shipped them!
I would advise against buying a Llama when for a few dollars more you can get a Ruger pistol with an excellent warranty, superior customer service and its an American made product.

We have a 9mm Llama in my fathers gun shop right now. To be honest with you, they do not impress me at all. We have sold some of the 45s and they never impresssed me and the 9mm is worse than the 45s. Add a little more money to it and buy a Ruger, S$W, or a Star for even less money than the Llama. Just my 2 cents worth.

I had a Llama Max-1 in 9mm. I bought it because it looked and felt like a Govt. 45 but shot the cheaper 9mm. Cost was 200.00 new. I shot about 600 rds thru it. It never failed to feed or function.
Accuracy not bad either.
What I did not like was that it felt "cheap" you could hear and feel it everytime it cycled. It felt like it could fall apart at any time.
I compare it to a safe door versus a school locker. I sold it and bought a Star Super B and I am very happy with it. Hope this helps.
